Examinations
BLW21 BLW22 MT531 and MT564 Students:
If you are enrolled in BLW21, BLW22, MT531 or MT564, the information on this page does not apply to you. Please visit this link for examination registration information.
Your Open Universities Australia unit of study may be assessed by examinations run by the teaching Schools, or by centrally scheduled examinations run in the formal two-week examination period at the end of each study period. Examinations may be scheduled to run either mid-study period or end of study period, or both.
The examination timetable is available to view prior to the start of each study period. Please check the time of your examination carefully and advise your examination invigilator the set date and time when requesting supervision.
Before you sit for an examination, you must nominate an examination invigilator who will supervise the examination. The exam will be sent to your nominated invigilator and it is your responsibility to make sure that you are present to take the exam at the appointed time. You must complete a supervised examination application form identifying your nominated invigilator. There are separate forms for mid-study period examinations and end-study period examination. To access these forms, click on the appropriate links below.
| Important!
When completing these forms, please make sure that you include the following information in the forms:
- The Unit Code
- The Unit Title
- The Unit Coordinator
You must submit an examination application form for each examination you undertake. Hence, if the unit you are undertaking has two examinations in the study period, you will need to complete and submit two separate examination application forms. |
Mid-study period examination application forms are due by the Friday of Week 2 of your study period and end of study period examination application forms are due by the Friday of Week 8. Failure to submit your forms by these dates may leave you ineligible to sit your examination.
Completed forms should be submitted to:

Exambiz is a private company operating in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide which offers a professional invigilation service to Open Universities Australia and Distance Education students. All examinations supervised by Exambiz are held at 6pm local time and Curtin will automatically approve this alternate time for all Curtin OUA examinations if you use Exambiz as your invigilator.
Curtin highly recommends the invigilation services of Exambiz for any mid or final OUA examination. If you register to sit your examination with Exambiz, Curtin will automatically be notified and you are not required to submit a separate Exam Invigilator Form. To register your intent to sit your examination with Exambiz, please visit their website at http://www.exambiz.com.au/. You can register and pay for your examination supervision on their website by credit card, or by cheque or money order.
Please note: Students enrolled in BLW21, BLW22, MT531 or MT564 who reside in Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide must utilise the services of Exambiz. There are no exceptions.
Curtin University of Technology is not affiliated with Exambiz and the University does not receive any portion of the exam fee.
Deferral of examination
- If you are unable to sit the final exam due to illness, you must provide documentary evidence with your examination application (a medical certificate in which the medical practitioner states that the illness is verifiable in their opinion and was in existence at the time of the exam).
- The Unit Controller has the discretion to accept or reject your application for examination deferral.
- You must sit the deferred exam at the first opportunity when it is next offered.
- A new examination application form must be submitted for the deferred examination.
Please note, as it is a deferred exam, you will not be receiving any new study material for the unit.
